The International Billiards & Snooker Federation Coaching Academy offers students and Coaches from across the world the opportunity to receive professional training and coaching from IBSF Qualified Coaches or to train and become a IBSF Coach. 

The goal for the IBSF Coaching Academy is to develop a team of IBSF Coaches in all the Member Countries to grow the game all across World.

Nick Barrow - HEAD OF IBSF COACHING

Profile : Nick first played snooker at the age of 10, recording his first century at 16, his maiden 147 at 21. He then turned professional, sompeting for seven years – with a highest rank of 113.

Always excited by snooker coaching, Nick Barrow Snooker Schools were formed in Oxford. This led to his appointment 28 years of age as UAE Head Coach in Dubai where the national team won gold medals in 11 international tournaments.

Nic stayed for 7 years, and in that time was contracted to run the International Billiards & Snooker Federation Coaching Academy since 2005. This involves certifying Coach's, Master Coaches & Examiners all over the world for the IBSF.

During this time, Nick became the world's most successful author of snooker coaching materials, selling snooker coaching products into 92 countries. To date he has visited 47 countries –

and continues to travel the world with his popular classes for enthusiasts, amateurs, national teams and coaches.

Nick lives in Milton Keynes just North of London, where he coaches one to one & group classes, certifies new coaches, and creates new training products.

P.J. NOLAN 

Profile : PJ is the Head of EBSA Coaching and the Republic Of Ireland National Snooker Coach. PJ is also a World Snooker Coach and coaches all over Europe and Asia. In 2013 PJ has coached in Austria, Israel, Belgium, Czech Republic, India and UAE. PJ Nolan has over 20 years of coaching experience.

He has worked all across the world in his roles of National Coach to the Republic Of Ireland and to Qatar in the Middle East. PJ trains and guides the team of EBSA Coaches and qualifies the new coaches. He also holds Cue Zones at all EBSA Snooker Championships.

Rules of Snooker

AMENDMENTS TO THE RULES OF SNOOKER AND BILLIARDS TO TAKE EFFECT ON AUGUST 12TH 2014

SNOOKER
Section 2 Rule 6 Stroke. (a)
The addition of  “except whilst addressing the cue-ball (known as  feathering)”                     

Section 2 Rule 13 Free Ball
Now to include “other than the ball on”
This is not a rule change, but just a clarification of an existing rule.

Section 2 Rule 14 Forced off the table
The addition of “or intentionally moved by hand”

Section 3 Rule10 Penalties
The position of the push shot penalty has changed it’s position, from (b)(v) to (a)(x)

Section 3 Rule 10 Penalties
(d)(iii)  Now reads “touches any ball during consultation”.
This is now a seven point penalty.

Section 3 Rule 12 Snookered after a Foul
As above under Section 2 Rule 13 Free Ball

Section 3 Rule 14 Foul and a Miss.
The Foul and a Miss Rule has been re-written for ease of clarity, but in essence    
remains the same, however many of the cross references have changed positions.

Section 3 Rule 15 Ball Moved by Other than Striker
(a)  Remove the words “other than the strikers partner”

BILLIARDS

Section 1 Rule 2 Balls
(a) With the introduction of the spotted Pro-Cup balls, the words “which may have   
spots” has been added.
