Pankaj conquers Qatar 6Reds World Cup 2021

Indian player Pankaj Advani has conquered back-to-back two major International championships. Last Thursday he won the Asian Snooker Championship and just after five days he stayed unbeaten in the Qatar 6Reds World Cup 2021 and lifted the coveted trophy with the winners' prize of 12000 USD.

Today he played the final against Pakistan player and 2017 World Team Snooker Champion Babar Masih, where Pankaj started on a winning note but after losing the second frame he raised the lead 3-1 with a break of 32 points.

Babar recovered with a break of 53 points in the fifth frame but again faced stiff competition when Pankaj won the next three frames in a row.

That was a do-or-die situation for Babar and he put in all his experience to secure frames after frame and succeeded in pocketing the next three frames scoring 43-00, 46-12 and 59-15.

The score was 6-5 in favour of Pankaj and Babar was placing good safety, but when Pankaj got a chance for long red pot, he succeeded to accumulate few red-black combinations to score a break of 32 points. Although Pankaj committed a foul on the last red, no major damage and he sealed the frame in the next visit to win the title.

The presentation ceremony was graced by the IBSF President, Mubarak Al-Khayarin, QBSF President Mohammed Mubarak Al-Ramzani, IBSF Secretary Michael Alkhoury, IBSF Executive Alamgir Shaikh, officials from QBSF and the representatives from the Sponsors Ooredoo and Al-Maha.

Pankaj is close to the second title in Doha; facing Babar in the final

Pankaj Advani from India who won the Asian Snooker title on the previous Thursday here in Doha has now reached the final of Qatar 6Reds World Cup 2021. In the final, he will take on Pakistan Player Babar Masih for the coveted title.

Pankaj once again repeated his victory by defeating Iranian player Amir Sarkhosh, whom he defeated last Thursday to claim the Asian Snooker title.

Today in the semi-final match, Pankaj obtained a lead of 3-1 with a well-crafted break of 62 points. Although Amir claimed another frame but Pankaj responded once again with a break of 45 points to maintain the lead. In fact, he enhanced that lead by winning the seventh frame too.

Amir attempted a strong recovery and made two small breaks of 30 and 35 points in the eighth frame and tried the best possible safety with decent potting but towards the end on colour balls, he lost control and Pankaj smartly potted the rest of the balls to secure his berth for final.

In the final, he will now take on Babar Masih of Pakistan, who knocked out debutant Richard Wienold of Germany 6-4.

Babar was enjoying a 3-0 lead when Richard claimed two frames to get close but Babar sent a break of 51 points followed by victory in the next frame to maintain the lead.

After one frame win with 40 points breaks by Richard, Babar responded with a 35 points break in next to seal the match 6-4.

Pankaj Advani to meet Amir Sarkhosh in the Semis of Qatar 6Reds World Cup

Indian player and 23 time World champion Pankaj Advani has defeated his compatriot Ishpreet Singh Chadha to reach the medals round of the Qatar 6Reds World Cup 2021. He will now take on Amir Sarkhosh of Iran, who knocked out Cheung Ka Wai of Hong Kong 6-3.

Initially, Pankaj obtained three frames lead with a well-compiled break of 54. However, Ishpreet managed to secure one frame but Pankaj was completely focused and responded with the next two frames win with a break of 38 points.

Ishpreet tried another recovery with a break of 70 points clearance but couldn't save the match since Pankaj sealed the eighth frame with a score of 32-19 and the match 6-2.

The Iranian player Amir Sarkhosh started well against Cheung Ka Wai and obtained a 2-0 lead with 60 points break in the second frame. But Cheung returned to the game with breaks of 37 & 42 and brought the match to the level again.

Amir replied for all the efforts of Cheung with a return break of 69 points and won the next frame too to maintain the lead of 4-2.

Although Cheung won the next frame Amir once again returned with 40 points break in the eighth frame and continued his winning streak in the next frame too to win the match 6-3.

Babar Masih qualifies for semi-finals; will take on Richard Wienold

Pakistan player Babar Masih knocked out his compatriot Haris Tahir in a one-sided affair 6-0 in the quarter-final match and confirmed his entry into the medals round of the Qatar 6Reds World Cup.

Haris appeared to be under pressure of playing against his senior from his country and failed to score on the opportunities he got. In most of the frames, he was out of reach and seeking to apply snooker, which he failed whereas Babar constantly dominated in all the frames with the breaks of 34, 38 and 32 to reach a scoreline of 6-0.

In the semi-final match, Babar will now take on the player from Germany, Richard Wienold who knocked out Ali Alobaidli of Qatar after a thrilling score of 6-4.

Richard dominated initially and won the first four frames with breaks of 37 and 32 in the first and third frames. After that Ali Alobaidli made a remarkable recovery in the match with two consecutive breaks of 31 and 47.

After losing the seventh frame Ali once again returned to the game by winning the next two frames and the score was 4-5.

Ali had a good chance to set a decider as he managed to take lead in the 10th frame but Richard got an opportunity that he converted into a score of 31 points and won the match 6-4.

Cheung knocksout Florian in Last-16

Hong Kong player Cheung Ka Wai knocked out Austrian player Florian Nussle in the Last-16 stage match of the Qatar 6Reds World Cup 2021. Cheung beat Florian 6-3

Cheung was dominating in the first four frames and also made breaks of 34 & 47 to obtain a lead of 4-0.

In the fifth frame, Florian returned to the game with a recovery break of 66 points. Further, he won the next two frames to cut the deficit heavily but Cheung had more time and a good lead, hence he scored two breaks of 68 and 53 points in the next two frames to win the match 6-3.

Cheung will now take on Amir Sarkhosh of Iran who reached the quarter-finals by defeating Saleh Mohammed of Afghanistan 6-2.

When the score was 1-1 with the break of 66 by Saleh, Amir crafted three breaks of 66, 38 & 37 to lead 5-1. Although Saleh won the next frame but Amir secured eighth frame 35-23 to oust Saleh in Last-16

IBSF AGM elected executives for next term

The Annual General Meeting of the IBSF was held on 17th September 2021 where the AGM elected new executives for the IBSF board.

The existing President Mubarak Al-Khyarin from Qatar and the Vice President Jim Leacy from the Republic of Ireland stayed unopposed and are elected for their respected positions.

Michael Alkhoury from Syria was handling the dual charge of the General Secretary and Treasurer now elected unopposed for the position of General Secretary.

For the position of Treasurer, the AGM elected Joseph Lo of Hong Kong for the next term.

Amir Sarkhosh likely to get top-seed for Qatar 6Reds World Cup knockout

Iran player Amir Sarkhosh is likely to get the top-seed position for the knockout stage of Qatar 6Reds World Cup 2021. The knockout stage will begin from today evening session where a total of 28 players are qualifying from the group stage and will compete for the title trophy.

Amir has already won all his group stage matches with a loss of only one frame. Brian Ochoiski of France is close to tying with him since he also lost only one frame, but he has to play one more match and the final seeding will be decided on the result of that match.

After them, the next players who will get a chance to stay in the top four are Pankaj Advani from India who won all matches with two frame losses and Babar Masih of Pakistan with three frames losses.

The remaining 24 players will play a prelim round to reach the Last-16 stage of the competition.

IBSF is sad to inform that former IBSF Treasurer Ray Habgood passed away last night due to a fall. Ray was in the IBSF office till 2012 and served our sport throughout his life. The IBSF expresses our deep grief on his sad demise and sends condolences to his family, friends and the New Zealand federation.

Habib scores a maximum of Qatar 6Reds World Cup 2021

Habib Subah of Bahrain set the new highest break of the Qatar 6Red World Cup 2021 by scoring a break of 79 during his group match against Soud Alabdulrazaq of Kuwait.

Habib was trailing 1-2 and after equalizing by winning the 4th frame and then got first free ball which he opted to pot brown ball to move forward and during his break he took two times blue with rest all black to accumulate this highest break.

In the next frame, he made another break of 58 points to raise his lead and then won the final frame to close the match proceedings 5-2.
