Advani enters quarter final to meet Sourav

India’s ace cueist Pankaj Advani continues on his winning spree of group stage into the knockout and won the Last-16 match ousting the fellow Indian player Alok Kumar scoring 750 against 547 to confirm quarter finals berth of f Long-Up format of 2016 IBSF World Billiards Championship.

Alok is always considered as a tough opponent in any form of cuesports, opened up his hands from the second visit itself and compiled three breaks of 99, 69 and another 69 in 2nd, 3rd and 4th visits to take initial lead of above 200 points.

However, Advani chased him with a flawless break of 130 points in 5th visit and then accelerated his score by posting another break of 157 points to take around 100 points lead. After that Advani kept constantly scored small but effective breaks to enhance the lead and made that almost double.

In that situation, Alok spent some time on table and posted three breaks of 42, 48 and 99 to cut down the lead but couldn’t do much as Advani covered the balance points by crafting 38 and 31 in subsequent visits.

Advani will now take on another Indian player and current national champion, Sourav Kothari who reached the quarter-final defeating Jaiveer Dhingra 750 against 432.

Sourav was in good form and got on the job from second visit itself by posting first break of 77 followed by massive 208 in 13th visit to leave Dhingra way behind.

Though Dhingra tried to recover with a break of 89 points but Sourav rapidly posted another break of 133 points to widen the gap and finally closed the proceedings to step into the quarter finals.
