Pankaj conquers Qatar 6Reds World Cup 2021

Indian player Pankaj Advani has conquered back-to-back two major International championships. Last Thursday he won the Asian Snooker Championship and just after five days he stayed unbeaten in the Qatar 6Reds World Cup 2021 and lifted the coveted trophy with the winners' prize of 12000 USD.

Today he played the final against Pakistan player and 2017 World Team Snooker Champion Babar Masih, where Pankaj started on a winning note but after losing the second frame he raised the lead 3-1 with a break of 32 points.

Babar recovered with a break of 53 points in the fifth frame but again faced stiff competition when Pankaj won the next three frames in a row.

That was a do-or-die situation for Babar and he put in all his experience to secure frames after frame and succeeded in pocketing the next three frames scoring 43-00, 46-12 and 59-15.

The score was 6-5 in favour of Pankaj and Babar was placing good safety, but when Pankaj got a chance for long red pot, he succeeded to accumulate few red-black combinations to score a break of 32 points. Although Pankaj committed a foul on the last red, no major damage and he sealed the frame in the next visit to win the title.

The presentation ceremony was graced by the IBSF President, Mubarak Al-Khayarin, QBSF President Mohammed Mubarak Al-Ramzani, IBSF Secretary Michael Alkhoury, IBSF Executive Alamgir Shaikh, officials from QBSF and the representatives from the Sponsors Ooredoo and Al-Maha.

Pankaj once again repeated his victory by defeating Iranian player Amir Sarkhosh, whom he defeated last Thursday to claim the Asian Snooker title.

Today in the semi-final match, Pankaj obtained a lead of 3-1 with a well-crafted break of 62 points. Although Amir claimed another frame but Pankaj responded once again with a break of 45 points to maintain the lead. In fact, he enhanced that lead by winning the seventh frame too.

Amir attempted a strong recovery and made two small breaks of 30 and 35 points in the eighth frame and tried the best possible safety with decent potting but towards the end on colour balls, he lost control and Pankaj smartly potted the rest of the balls to secure his berth for final.

Indian player and 23 time World champion Pankaj Advani has defeated his compatriot Ishpreet Singh Chadha to reach the medals round of the Qatar 6Reds World Cup 2021. He will now take on Amir Sarkhosh of Iran, who knocked out Cheung Ka Wai of Hong Kong 6-3.

Ishpreet tried another recovery with a break of 70 points clearance but couldn't save the match since Pankaj sealed the eighth frame with a score of 32-19 and the match 6-2.

Babar Masih qualifies for semi-finals; will take on Richard Wienold

Pakistan player Babar Masih knocked out his compatriot Haris Tahir in a one-sided affair 6-0 in the quarter-final match and confirmed his entry into the medals round of the Qatar 6Reds World Cup.

Haris appeared to be under pressure of playing against his senior from his country and failed to score on the opportunities he got. In most of the frames, he was out of reach and seeking to apply snooker, which he failed whereas Babar constantly dominated in all the frames with the breaks of 34, 38 and 32 to reach a scoreline of 6-0.

In the semi-final match, Babar will now take on the player from Germany, Richard Wienold who knocked out Ali Alobaidli of Qatar after a thrilling score of 6-4.

Richard dominated initially and won the first four frames with breaks of 37 and 32 in the first and third frames. After that Ali Alobaidli made a remarkable recovery in the match with two consecutive breaks of 31 and 47.
