Russian women to play each other in Semis of 6Reds

Both the Russian women players Anastasia Nechaeva and Daria Sirotina will see each other in the first semi final tomorrow morning. The second semi final will be played between Thailand's Siripaporn Nuanthakhamjan and Latvian player Tatjana Vasiljeva.

The first quarter final was between Anastasia Nechaeva of Russia and India's Vidya Pillai. Anastasia received tough contest from India's Vidya Pillai in two frames but more determined Anastasia captured both the frames on black ball to register 3-1 win and entered into semis.

Muhammad Asif struggled against David Hogan

In his match against Irishman David Hogan, the defending champion Muhammad Asif of Pakistan found himself in turbulent waters as David’s resilience pushed the match into a decider frame.  After losing the first frame, Asif won successive two frames scoring decent breaks of 70 and 75 points to gain a 2-1 lead. Hogan who was determined not to be sidelined so easily won the fourth and the next two were won one each thus putting the decider on the table. In the decider, Asif led from the start and never let his guard down winning the match with a 40 points difference.

Kuwata causes upset; Vidya continues her winning streak

The big upset of the day was from the cue of Tetsuya Kuwata of Japan who defeated former World No.4 Soheil Vahedi of Iran. With an opening break of 83 points, Tetsuya exhibited his talent and made it clear that he was not intimidated by Vahedi’s achievements. Though Vahedi  rose to the challenge and leveled the score line by winning the next frame but after that it was Tetsuya all always. He never allowed Vahedi into the match again as he maintained a good lead in remaining frames and succeeded in creating a massive depression in the Iranian camp.
