Shandilya wins close contest; Joshi, Advani enjoyed handsome victory margins

In the last session of the day, efforts put in by Sourav Kothari with a break of 200 points went in vain when former World Champion Ashok Shandilya hammered with small but serial breaks of 80, 56, 98, 63, 98 and 75 to edge pass Kothari and beat him by 104 points. Till 100 minutes the match score was very close and it could be anyone's game but in the last moments of play a break of 75 points by Shandilya put him ahead of Kothari.

Father-Son failed to save their matches in last moments

Arun Agrawal and his son Aditya failed to give finishing touch in their respective matches and lost to former World No.2 Matthew Bolton from Australia and former Bronze Medalist Sourav Kothari respectively. Both Bolton and Kothari were on the verge of losing their matches but recovered at appropriate time to save their matches. Where Bolton gave two frames after winning first two, Kothari was down two frames and won consecutive three games to win the match.
