Nay Thway enters final of World Billiards (150-Up) to meet Pankaj Advani

World Billiards No.2 and current Asian champion Nay Thway Oo of Myanmar has confirmed to play final of World Billiards (150-Up) Championship 2019 scheduled for tomorrow at Multisport Complex in Mandalay, Myanmar.

Nay Thway defeated former Asian champion from India, Sourav Kothari 5-3 in the semi-final. His attacking form had begun from the start and he dominated whole match with massive breaks. He won first two games scoring breaks of 65 and 93.

In third game, Kothari recovered with a high-quality clearance break of 152 points. Nay Thway responded immediately with another break of 122 to maintain his lead 3-1. Even though he was going for big break in fifth game too but after making break of 72 he missed which Kothari utilized and sealed the game having break of 83 points.

Once again Nay Thway missed after compiling 103 points and Kothari punished him with game win and levelled the match. That was the last chance for Kothari to do something in the match because after that Nay Thway shown his class and sent two breaks of 150 points (clearance) and 130 to win next two games and the match 5-3.

Nay Thway will now take on defending champion Pankaj Advani who entered the final defeating multiple time World Champion Mike Russell of England 5-2.

Advani started by winning first game where he compiled 114 points break and then went for the clearance break to increase his lead but when he reached on 142 points, he missed. Compliments to Russell who made counter clearance break of 150 points under those pressure situations.

In next game, Advani sent counter break of 118 points break when Russell missed after making 122 points break to lead again. Though Russell won fourth frame and levelled the match.

After that the real battle began. In fifth game Russell was quite close to take lead but he missed on 142 and Advani sent contribution of 63 points to score 3-2.

Even after that Russell tried to control the situation but another miss on 96 points allowed Advani to lead 4-2. Seventh game was crucial where both countered each other but towards the end Advani dominated the game and won by 151-61 to close the proceedings 5-2.

The final will be played tomorrow at 12 Noon, followed by Prize Distribution and Opening Ceremony for World 6Reds and Team Snooker 2019.
