World Cup enters the knockout stage

After two days of round robin, 8 teams have now been eliminated from the World Snooker Team Cup 2018 here at Doha. The teams got eliminated are Iraq, Ireland-2, Poland, Wales-1, Hong Kong-2, Malaysia and two teams from the host nation i.e. Qatar-2 and Qatar-3.

Malaysia and Hong Kong-2 remained quite unlucky as they both got eliminated despite winning their today’s matches. They both required two win least 3-1 but losing two frames put them out of the competition.

For the Last-16 knockout stage, Ireland-1 comprises of Brendan O’Donoghue and Michael Judge grabs the top-seed slot followed by Pakistan-2 and India-3 after the random draw. Ireland-1 played two matches today where the first match stretched till the last frame with score 3-2 and in the next they defeated Qatar-3 in straight set of frames 3-0.

Last-16 knockout matches are scheduled for tomorrow in two sessions i.e. 10 AM and 1 PM followed by Quarter finals at 5 PM.
