The defending champion of World 6Reds, Darren Morgan of Wales wouldn’t have imagined such a fierce competition towards the end of his quarter-final bout.
Even the spectators haven’t imagined that the match will reach till decider after watching the initial frames where Morgan was on fire and crafted three breaks of 74, 63 and 72.
Applaud to Fung Kwok Wai of Hong Kong also, who sit idle performed even after watching those breaks high quality breaks of his opponent and dragged him to decider.
After winning the first frame, Darren sends contribution of two breaks of 74 and 63 to take 3-0 lead. A situation where Fung Kwok waited for his turn as a mute spectator, raised the bar and posted recovery break of 60 points.
Though Morgan was alert and again he sent another contribution of 72 points break to continue on his lead, but after that Fung Kwok curtailed him and played quite tactical game to win next three frames in a row to set decider.
It was do-or-die situation for both where Darren got the first opportunity, which he fully used to accumulate 27 points on board when Fung attempted a safety, which brilliantly cleared by Morgan and played each shot after that very cautiously to confirm his match win and stay in the competition.
He will now play against another player from Hong Kong, Lee Chun Wai, who knocked out former World Champion of 15Reds, Muhammad Asif of Pakistan, 5-2.
The next semi-final is between, Kamal Chawla of India and Babar Masih of Pakistan.
