Tudor Popescu of Romania set highest break of 2016 IBSF World Under-18 (Boys) Snooker championship on the very first day of the event.

He scored 89 points break in the third frame of his match against Brad Ferguson of Wales. With this he surpassed the high break of 75 points made by Chae Ross of England a session before.

Irish player Fergal Quinn made a fabulous recovery to save his match against Adam Morrey of England.

Morrey was in good control by winning first two frame 71-37 and 73-43 but Fergal did not give up and fought hard in third frame to seal it 65-26. Fourth frame also went close where Fergal held his nerve to win 69-45 and set decider. In decider, he did not give chance to Morrey and won the frame 73-01 to close the match proceeding 3-2.
