Last year's timed event world champion, Peter Gilchrist saved his match from multiple time world champion Pankaj Advani. Gilchrist was down 2 games from where he recovered and pulled next three games in time to beat Advani 3-2.

Advani started with the well crafted breaks of 101 and 89 points and was on verge to make it 3-0 with another good break of 62 but couldn't as Gilchrist's century break (107) pushed him little back. In the next game too Gilchrist made another controlled break of 75 to set the decider with Advani.

Decider was surely a cliffhanger where Advani was in full control but when he gave a chance to Gilchrist on a score of 97, a brilliant break of 83 points from Gilchrist mesmerized all the spectators. Of course the break of 83 was not smooth and Gilchrist had to pass through all the hurdles he got in between. Lastly he missed a two cushion cannon on 110 but landed safe. In the next visit he cleared the match crafting break of 41.
